While there has been much work devoted to understanding Attention and Working Memory , the nature of the Relationship between these constructs is not well understood. Indeed, while neither Attention nor Working Memory represent a uniform set of processes, theories of their Relationship tend to focus on only some aspects.

While theories on the relationship between WM and attention (Cowan, 1995; Duncan, 1996; Rensink, 2002), suggest a close connection, even isomorphism, between the two constructs, the available evidence suggests important distinctions.
