Introduction: This unit begins with a lesson on the recently expanded border-free Schengen Zone and involves students in an investigation of related border and immigrant issues. In lesson two students analyze maps, charts, and graphs to explore the geographic, economic, political, historical, and psychological reasons why the Schengen zone is important to Germany.
