If a propeller shaft is dismantled and any parts other than the eight nuts and bolts securing the flanges are renewed, the propeller shaft must be re-balanced when assembled. Shafts with the Hardy Spicer JOINTS at each end must be dynamically balanced to within oz. in. (18,00 grn. cm.) at 3,000 and shafts with the Detroit joint at the forward end should be balanced to within oz.
