1 USE OF TECHNOLOGIES FOR data collection , capturing , archiving AND dissemination -THE ethiopian EXPEREINCE By: Yakob Mudesir Seid Operations, Methodology and data Processing Deputy Director General Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia, 1143, Addis Ababa or Abstract Estimating and forecasting Ethiopia s agriculture production is essential to the country s economy, financial stability, and development. Many advances can be made in improving the consistency, reliability and cost effectiveness of estimating Ethiopia s agricultural statistics and monitoring agricultural land use change over time. The Central Statistical Agency (CSA) of Ethiopia is responsible for providing accurate and timely statistical information including the agriculture sector for development planning and monitoring purposes. To fulfill its responsibilities, CSA has been engaged in utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to facilitate its data collection , processing, archiving and dissemination system so that the required statistical information can be generated and reaches the users for better decision making.
