Vocabulary learning involves connotative (inferred/implied) and denotative (literal) meanings of words . 4. Why teach Vocabulary ? a. Improves reading comprehension b. Improves writing. c. Aids in word recognition or decoding. d. Increases general intelligence. 5. Vocabulary is least well learned under the following conditions: a. Mindless repetition and defining of words b. words that are too difficult c. words that have no connection to students lives, their studies, their interests, or to other words and concepts they may know.
