The answer to that question has to do with whether a particular dredge is suction-sidelimited or not. A dredge system is said to have two sides, the suction side and thedischarge side. When dredge production is limited by the rate at which solids can be raisedto the pump inlet, the dredge is said to be suction-side limited.
