Opposites Give students two antonyms, such as beautiful and ugly or fat and skinny. Ask them to locate at least five additional words that show the various degrees between the two words (e.g., beautiful, pretty, attractive, common, plain, unattractive, ugly). Have students write these words in their journals so they can use them while writing.
