What is Asphalt? Asphalt may be referred to by several names including hot mix asphalt (HMA), warm mix as-phalt (WMA), plant mix asphalt, asphalt con-crete, bituminous concrete, blacktop, or Super-pave. Asphalt is comprised of aggregate bound together into a solid mass by asphalt binder (also called asphalt cement or liquid asphalt).
