Chapter 13 Waste management
The management of waste in South Africa has been based . on the principles of the waste management hierarchy (Figure 13.1) from early waste policy (DEAT 2000) and entrenched in recent waste legislation. The adoption of the hierarchy has been in the policy since 2009, but the management of waste has not necessarily followed the hierarchal approach.
