To measure current in a circuit, the ammeter must be placed in series with the current in question. As in the case of the voltmeter, the insertion of the ammeter into our circuit may also disturb the current we are trying to measure. To examine this loading effect, let us first examine the circuit in Figure 1.3 (a).
