Electromagnetism - DAMTP

At the atomic scale, electromagnetism (admittedly in conjunction with some basic quantum e ects) governs the interactions between atoms and molecules. It is the force that underlies the periodic table of elements, giving rise to all of chemistry and, through this, much of biology. It is the force which binds atoms together into solids and liquids.

APPLICATION OF DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS IN PHYSICS

We look at lagrangian mechanics. Lagragian mechanics is widely used to solve mechanical problems in physics and when Newton’s formulation of classical mechanics is not convenient. Lagragian mechanics applies to the dynamics of particles, while fields are described using a Lagragian density. We also look at simple electric circuit problems.
