In spectrophotometry, there are two ways to measure the amount of light that passes through a sample: transmittance and absorbance. Transmittance, T, is a ratio of the power of radiation exiting the sample, P T, to the power of the radiation entering or incident to the sample, P 0, and is normally reported as a percent; 100% transmittance
