Interphase mass transfer involves three transfer steps. For the specific example of oxygen transporting from air to water, these three steps are: 1. The transfer of oxygen from the bulk air to the surface of the water. 2. The transfer of oxygen across the interface. 3. The transfer of oxygen from the surface of the air to the bulk water.
