current state of research whether individuals’ self-esteem influ-ences characteristics of their social relationships over time. In the present research, we meta-analytically synthesized the evidence from longitudinal studies to estimate the reciprocal ef-fects between social relationships and self-esteem and tested for moderators of each effect.
