overall poverty is 15.4%, child poverty is 23.7%, poverty for people over age 65 is 10.7%, Black poverty is 22.6%, non-Hispanic White poverty is 6.9%, and Hispanic or Latino poverty is 21.9%. It is noted this year that Black and Hispanic/Latino poverty rates are converging in Memphis, except for people over 65.
