History of non-life-threatening penicillin allergy - use Meropenem 1 gm iv tds instead of Tazocin. History of life-threatening penicillin allergy - use Ciprofloxacin 400mg bd iv instead of Tazocin. If pneumonia is suspected, add Teicoplanin 400 mg iv bd for 3 doses, then reduce to 400mg iv OD.
