RESEARCH METHODS 1: FREQUENCY DISTRIBUTIONS
How can we compare frequency distributions when they are based on different totals? The solution is to turn our "raw" frequencies into relative frequencies. To turn a raw frequency into a relative frequency, divide the raw frequency by the total number of cases, and then multiply by 100. Thus (25/50)*100 = 50%, and (25/100)*100 = 25%.
