Soil sampling for whole-field management The goal of soil sampling for whole-field management is to get a sample representative of the typical soil in the field. To do this, subsamples are distributed across large areas to ensure the entire field is represented. To achieve this, collect composite samples in a zig-zag pattern (Fig. 3).
