8 The mass ofbearings with shield(s), seal (s) or snap ringgroove differs only slightly from that of thebasic Bearings with shields or seals at both sidesare supplied as standard filled with agrease which has good rust inhibiting prop-erties and which is suitable for operatingtemperatures between -22 and +230 F (-30to +110 C). The Bearings are lubricated forlife and are maintenance free. Theyshould on no account be heated to tem-peratures above 250 F (120 C), norshould they be special order, Bearings with shields or seals can be sup-plied with other greases, for a tempera-ture range of -40 to +300 F (-40 to +150 C).The quantity of grease supplied is appropri-ate to the size of the bearing and normallyfills between 25 and 35% of the free spacein the bearing .
9 Open Bearings are suppliedwith a rust preservative that is compatiblewith most standard greases and should notbe removed prior to mounting or lubricating.* Other greases are available on Radial internal clearance (table 1)SKF single row deep Groove ball bearingsare produced with Normal radial internalclearance (CN or C0 not marked onbearing) as standard. Radial clearanceselection is based on factors such as highspeed, operating temperature, shaft fits andaxial movement limitations. The availabilityof Bearings with clearances other thanNormal should be checked before suffix JEM indicates an internalclearance greater than Normal (C3).
10 Manyof the Bearings , particularly the smallersizes, are also available with radial internalclearance, which is greater than or lessthan Normal (C3, C2 respectively). The values of the clearance limits for singlerow deep Groove ball Bearings are shown intable 1. They conform to ISO 5753-1991(ABMA standard 20-1996) for the sizerange covered by this standard.
