1 btec Level 3 Diplomain electrical and Electronic Engineering 2016/17 Course Duration: 1 or 2 YearsThe course starts in September 2016. OVERVIEW OF THE COURSEO ther start dates are available subject to apply please contact Julie Burns: course can be a stand-alone qualification for people who have a specific interest in maintenance Engineering or a component requirement for an Advanced Apprenticeship. It is a nationally recognisedqualification which can lead to employment as a technician and also provides progression to higher Level qualifications including Degree or long will it take me to achieve this qualification?The usual duration for this qualification is 2 academic years. Some employers wish to fast track learners to HNC and SETA facilitate this with the 1 year 2 days a week option. This option is very challenging and is only for those learners who are highly motivated andhave very good GCSE results.
2 Many mature learners undertake the 1 year requirementsTo undertake this course you must achieve a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grades A*- C, including Maths, English Language and a Science. Due to the content of this qualification and potential progression GCSEA*-B is preferred in Maths. A core element of Engineering courses at SETA is maths. It underpins all that you will do as engineersfrom completing calculations for simple electrical circuits to more complex multistage calculations and even advanced simultaneous equations when studying Kirchoffs Laws . Whatever Level you are studying maths for Engineering will be an important part of your Level 3 Diplomain electrical and Electronic Engineering 2015/16 What topics will I study?You will study 5 mandatory units: Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace, Communications for Technicians, Mathematics for Engineering Technicians, electrical and Electronic Principles Engineering Project (work based).
3 The remaining speciality units are typically Business Operations in Engineering , Selecting and Using Programmable Logical Controllers, electrical Technology, Electronic Measurement and Testing, Principles and Applications of Analogue Electronics, Electronic Fault Finding, Three-Phase Motors and Drives Further Electronic units are available and actual content can be revised to meet employer will I be assessed?The units are assessed in compliance with the awarding body requirements. Most units use assignments which can be a mix of theory and practical assessment. Unit achievement is graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction and the overall qualification is also graded to reflect learners unit our students When I don t understand I only have to ask and it will be explained in different ways until I understand Good experience It s really good and fun SETA programmes also includes enrichment activities and industrial visits where is active in supporting charities and throughout the academic year fun activities are planned to support the chosen charities.
