6 Mark 9:30-37 Next Sunday s Services and Activities: Covenant Sunday Said Holy Communion Said Evening Prayer Sung Holy Communion X Team meet Harvest Festival: This year we will be collecting items for: Herts Young Homeless; The Catholic Worker Farm; Rickmansworth Food Bank and Watford and Three Rivers Refugee Partnership as well as individuals to whom produce will be gifted. All the organisations have asked for similar items: Tins: vegetables, fruit, soup, meat, fish, tomatoes, custard; sponge puddings; rice pudding; pasta sauce; pasta; biscuits; long-life juice; squash, UHT milk; tea, instant coffee; cup-a-soups; pasta pots; sugar; cereals; cereal bars.
7 No baked beans required! Please make sure that all products are well within their use by/best before dates. The gifts will be sorted the following Monday, 8 October, at 10am ready for them to be collected in the afternoon. All help with this task will be gratefully appreciated. Notices Season of Invitation: Please make sure that you have taken one or two envelopes of invitations to pass to friends/neighbours. The first event of the season is only two weeks away, Back to Church Sunday! Let s make this outreach as successful as possible and bring lots of new people to our lovely church.
8 Harvest Lunch and Quiz: Everyone is invited to our Hearty Harvest Lunch, including hotpots, bread and cheese followed by crumble (yum!!). Lunch will be followed by a quiz and maybe even a sing-song! Please let Karen know by 30 September if you would like to attend. Ticket prices: 6/adult; 3/under 12; 15/family Richard Lowson: I attended a circuit meeting on Tuesday and I am sure you will be delighted to hear Richard has been asked to continue his ministry with us for the next three years. In the recent survey all those asked were unanimously in favour of his staying and had only praise for his work amongst us.
9 June Poppleton Newsletter: Thank you to everyone who has assisted in the creation, folding and batching of our latest newsletter. If you are able to assist with delivery, please take a bundle away with you. Hilary Stevenson The Teapot Club: Our Wednesday afternoon drop-in for tea in church (previously known as It s time for tea ) will be this coming Wednesday. Anyone and everyone is welcome. The first two meetings went really well - so do come along and join us. Hilary Pearce Women s World Day of Prayer: Having been postponed earlier in the year, this has now been re-scheduled to this Friday, 21 September.
10 The Service will take place at Berry Lane Methodist Church at , followed by refreshments. All welcome. Apollo Male Voice Choir Concert: The choir will be performing here at St Mary s on Saturday 29 September at , in aid of WaterAid. Featuring soloist Hilary Pearce, accompanied by David Conway. All welcome. Preparation for receiving Holy Communion before Confirmation: Children aged 7 or above will be admitted to Holy Communion on Sunday 25 November - the Feast of Christ the King. There will be a Preparation Day on Saturday 24 November, at The Vicarage. If you would like to join the Preparation Day, please speak to Deborah when she is back in church (from mid-October).
