2 The Associa on of South African Quan ty Surveyors (ASAQS) agreed to fund this working group and to allow their STANDARD System of MEASURING BUILDING work 1991 to be used as a base document The STANDARD METHOD of Measurement for Africa commi ee of the Africa Associa on of Quan ty Surveyors (AAQS), namely Messrs D N Kimoro (Kenya), M K Frimpong (Ghana),G Ndung u (Zambia) and N Mooroogan (Mauri us) were given the opportunity to provide input, fi rstly on the tabulated format and therea er on the proposed new STANDARD METHOD Concurrently the ASAQS agreed to make available its Model Bills of Quan es (abbreviated descrip ons) as the base document for an updated version for use in conjunc on with the STANDARD METHOD of MEASURING BUILDING work for Africa. A working group comprising of Prof H M Sigl , Mr R de Villiers and Prof C H Klopper, funded by the AAQS, was appointed to undertake the task of upda ng the model bills The AAQS Services and Model Documenta on board sees the publica on of the abovemen oned two documents as a major step in standardising procurement documenta on in Africa and improving the quality of such documenta on STANDARD METHOD OF MEASURING BUILDING work FOR AFRICA 2015 FIRST EDITIONDISCLAIMER.
