www.who.int6.1 Temperature Temperature must be measured in situ because a water sample will gradually reach the same temperature as the surrounding air. If it is not possible to measure the temperature in situ, a sample must be taken from the correct location and depth of the sampling station and its temperature measured immediately it is brought to the surface.
