MECHANISM OF ACTION: Fluorouracil is an analog of the pyrimidine uracil and thus acts as a pyrimidine antagonist.1 There are three possible mechanisms of action.2 First, the fluorouracil metabolite fluorodeoxyuridine monopho sphate (FdUMP) competes with
