Early tracings typically show peaked or “hyperacute” T waves. As the MI progresses, this is followed by ST-segment depression or elevation, Q-wave development and lastly, T-wave inversions. Presentation can vary, with this progression occurring over a few hours to several days, with Q-waves only developing in 30-50% of acute MIs.
