1 London question Time is backYour chance to ask questions and give feedback at our question Time event in London s City HallTuesday 6 October, 7pm until Music London is holding its second question Time event at London s City Hall on Tuesday 6 October, 7pm - at London s Living Room, a fantastic space with a dramatic view at the top of City Hall. We d be delighted if you would join main purpose of the meeting is to give London music groups an opportunity to raise concerns, questions and suggestions with the London Development Team, Heather and Tom. Input from members at the fi rst question Time in January 2009 guided our plans for the year.

6 Inside this edition of Harmony you will find inspiration from Capital Chorus whose efforts to encourage new members have been most successful, and from Dulwich Symphony Orchestra whose outreach projects are set to become a permanent feature. There are details about how to get involved in national music-making projects, as well as initiatives closer to home at St Mary s Hospital in Paddington which is appealing for more participants. Plus find out about how to use our website to best effect and the changes that we re making to the concert diary in London to make it more user-friendly and promote it more always, we welcome feedback from all member groups.

7 So if something has got your goat, or you ve got a story to tell that you think would benefit the readership, please do send it in. And to provide feedback on the future strategy of Making Music London, attend our question Time event on 6th October to meet the team and find out about plans for the meantime, happy music-making! singing in LondonSeptember is a time for new beginnings. After a long summer of barbeques and brollies, what better way to re-energise than by pushing your musical boundaries? Perhaps your choir is considering trying some African chants, commissioning a new work, working with young people, or even going on tour?

8 We have a feast of new opportunities to help make your musical life both more exciting and year, we want to help choirs find new members by drawing in people from their surrounding communities. We have devised a 6-week course for choirs to host, inviting anyone and everyone to Learn to Sing . At the conclusion of the course, most of the new singers should be in a position to sing in a typical SATB setting. In partnership with the BBC Choir of the Year competition, we have funding for 7 of these courses. See our website for more , we are helping the BBC Performing Arts Fund administer a new fund entitled Choral Ambition.

9 Groups can apply for funding of between 500 and 5,000 for any projects that either involve new commissions, or involve training and development of some sort. Again, see our website for partnership with Classic FM goes from strength to strength. There will be several new projects this Autumn, including more chances for your recordings to be broadcast. You can hear some recordings on the Full Works on 28 September, including London choir Chantage. Finally, we anticipate a new joint project with BBC Radio 3 and BBC Learning, which will be launched over the next few 5 September, at our conference in Leeds, we explored the different challenges of leading music groups, and working with professional musical directors.
