Any suspicious or unusual activityshould be reported by a financial institution in the mannerprescribed by its appropriate federal regulator or BSAexaminer. (See the instructions for Item 37). If a transactionis suspicious and in excess of $10,000 in Currency , thenboth a CTR and the appropriate suspicious Activity Reportform must be situations involving suspicious transactions requiringimmediate attention, such as when a reportable transactionis ongoing, the fianacial institution shall immediately notify,by telephone, appropriate law enforcement and regulatoryauthorities in addition to filing a timely suspicious InstructionsWho Must File.

8 Each financial institution (other than acasino, which instead must file FinCEN form 103, and Postal Service for which there are separate rules) mustfile FinCEN form 104 (CTR) for each deposit, withdrawal,exchange of Currency , or other payment or transfer, by,through, or to the financial institution which involves atransaction in Currency of more than $10,000. Multipletransactions must be treated as a single Transaction if thefinancial institution has knowledge that (1) they are by oron behalf of the same person, and (2) they result in eithercurrency received (Cash In) or Currency disbursed (CashOut) by the financial institution totaling more than $10,000during any one business day.

9 For a bank, a business day isthe day on which transactions are routinely posted tocustomers accounts, as normally communicated todepository customers. For all other financial institutions,a business day is a calendar , financial institutions are defined as banks, othertypes of depository institutions, brokers or dealers insecurities, money transmitters, Currency exchangers, checkcashers, and issuers and sellers of money orders and traveler schecks.
