As public spaces, no alcohol consumption was allowed at the spaces and smoking was prohibited. Seating was open to the public, not reserved for customers of any particular establishment, and each site had a sign emphasizing this.

Ecopolis' platform under construction The data in this Report is derived from field observations conducted in September of 2011 , with the exception of Pearl Street which was observed in August of 2010. User counts were collected manually, assisted by time lapse video in certain locations. Counts of the number of people at a site were taken every 15. minutes, and the dwell time in the space was recorded for each person.
