Delta Decisions of DC, LLC, a woman-owned business located in Washington, DC, is honored to announce its third annual Fellowship that will support a graduate student pursuing an advanced degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) and with an interest in the arts (STEaM).

2 Eligible applicants must demonstrate acceptance to or be enrolled in an accredited STEM-related graduate program at a university located in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) metropolitan area. Additional eligibility requirements and instructions for applying for the 2017 Fellowship are outlined below. Only applications received by 11:59 PM EST, Saturday, January 27, 2018, will be considered. The NVDECS Foundation is a United Way/Combined Federal Campaign organization. Enrolled in or accepted into an accredited STEM-related graduate program in the greater DC (Baltimore to Richmond) metropolitan area at the time of award; 2.

3 A student with a minimum grade point average of on a scale; 3. A Citizen; 4. Eligible for the Fellowship award as determined by the donor s criteria. (Refer to the Fellowship description for specific criteria.) 2 Fellowship Award Eligibility requirements for the Friends and Family of Northern Virginia Deltas Scholarships are based on criteria set by the donor. Applicants are encouraged to apply for all scholarships in which they are eligible. However, only one scholarship will be awarded to an applicant. The one-time Fellowship award, funded by Delta Decisions of DC, will be paid to the recipients academic institutions in two disbursements (contingent on the terms of the Fellowship memorandum of understanding), one for the fall semester and another for the spring semester of the academic year.

4 The Delta Decisions IQA Fellowship ($2,000) The founders of Delta Decisions of DC are data scientists and members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. They formed an analytics consulting firm to assist clients with quantitative decision-making techniques that will allow insight and control of challenging business problems. The Delta Decisions IQA Fellowship will be awarded to a graduate student who personifies and embodies the firm s core values of integrity, quality and accountability in their professional and personal lives. This one-time award is for an African-American female student in a STEM field. Preference will be given to a student who also has an affinity for the arts (STEaM).

5 African-American female graduate students with a minimum grade point average of B+ ( on a scale) are encouraged to apply. Application requirements for the 2018 Delta Decisions IQA Fellowship Applicants for the Delta Decisions IQA Fellowship must provide the following: A completed, typed Application with all questions answered and signed by the applicant Undergraduate/Graduate transcript (with school s seal and in a sealed envelope) Information stating or showing your status as a Citizen Two letters of recommendation (no more than one letter from each category listed): - Professor - Community leader - Business professional Information confirming that you are enrolled in or accepted to an accredited university in the Greater DC area (Baltimore to Richmond).

6 Evidence that you have a minimum grade point average of on a scale Verification that you meet all of the eligibility requirements of the Fellowship A professional resume A scholarly essay consisting of a minimum of 1,000 words that addresses one of the following topics: 3 Topic #1 Select a quote on the topic of INTEGRITY Explain what is meant by this quote. I believe this art contributes _____ to mankind. 5 NOTE: If you are selected as a Fellowship recipient, you must sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the NVDECS Foundation prior to the funds being disbursed to the educational institution. Fellowships paid to individuals are generally taxable income to that person. However, a candidate for a degree can exclude amount received as a qualified scholarship from taxable income. Specific questions regarding the tax treatment of this scholarship should be directed to a tax advisor or the Internal Revenue Service.

10 Additional Information Recipients of the Delta Decisions IQA Fellowship and one guest will be expected to attend our Trailblazer Awards & Scholarship Event on Saturday, May 5, 2018, for the presentation of the Fellowship award.
