1 2018 Mahaska Midwest Charter All Star Permission Information Division of Mahaska County Little League PARENT Permission OR DENIAL FOR PLAYER ALL STAR NOMINATION Mahaska County Little League offers 2 divisions of All Star play for both softball and baseball: League Age 8-9-10 year olds League Age 10-11-12 year olds ALL PARENTS PLEASE READ AND SIGN, EITHER GRANTING OR DENYING Permission FOR NOMINATION I give Permission for my child to be nominated for the Mahaska Midwest ALL Star Team. I understand that this does not mean my child is on the All Star Team, but that he/she will be considered for selection to the All Star team and that league coaches select players onto the All Star team. I understand that more practices, games and travel are required. Following is information on expected dates and expected number of games: District games are played in the evening during the week and may be during the day or evening on the weekend.

2 Out of town games are about a 1 hr. drive or less. The number of district teams and district dates for games are not set yet so the information below is the current best estimate based on known dates for the state tournament and past experience from prior years. o 8/9/10 Softball - In 2017, had 7 teams so played 6 games in the 8 days. We expect districts will plan to be wrapped up by or around 6/29/18. So likely dates from around Thursday 6/21/18 through Friday 6/29/18. o 10/11/12 Softball In 2017, had 5 teams so played 4 games in the 5 days. We expect districts will plan to be wrapped up by or around 6/29/18. So likely dates from around Monday 6/25/18 through Friday 6/29/18. o 8/9/10 Boys In 2017, had 10 teams so played 9 games in 10 days. For 2018, expect they will plan between Monday 7/2/18 and Friday 7/13/18 with 7/4/18 being off for the 4th of July. o 10/11/12 Boys In 2017, had 8 teams so played 7 games across the 9 days.

3 For 2018, expect they will plan between 7/5/18 and 7/13/18. o Note: In districts, they try to replicate the state tournament where a game is played each day. In the past, we have tried to schedule Sunday s as a make up game but games may be scheduled for Sunday s. State (Games are scheduled throughout the day during the week and on weekends. A couple of Mahaska Midwest teams have qualified for the state tournament in the past 10 years) o 8/9/10 & 10/11/12 softball = 7/7-7/14 @ Boone, IA o 8/9/10 & 10/11/12 baseball = 7/20-7/28 @ Grandview College in Des Moines, IA 8/9/10 Softball and Baseball Regionals and World Series = There are no All-Star games beyond the state tournament 10/11/12 Softball and Baseball Regionals and World Series = One team from the State advances on to Regional play and if they win regionals on to the Little League World Series. Mahaska Midwest has not qualified a team beyond the state tournament but our understanding is a softball team several years ago lost a tie breaker to miss advancing to regional play so we had a team that was close to advancing to regionals.

4 Being selected to an All Star team is both a great honor and a significant commitment. We ask that you do not say yes if you cannot devote 100% to it, as it is unfair to the other participants. I also understand that I must show proof of original birth certificate and proof of residency within 3 days of being notified as an All Star Participant. Further, I understand that if my child plays on an AAU or ASA team, they are eligible to play on BOTH Little League All Stars and AAU or ASA teams. If he/she is selected to the Little League All Star Team, once the ALL Stars play begins they may play on their AAU or ASA team, but if the team manager sees them as not fulfilling their All Star obligations, they can be removed from the team.
