Room 100/101 Vocational Fit Assessment Recommended for new teams Individuals with intellectual disabilities are employed at significantly lower rates than the general population. Transition to post-secondary education or employment is the primary indicator of positive outcomes for young adults, but many individuals with IDD are unable to achieve this outcome due to a variety of personal and systematic factors (Butterworth & Migliore, 2015). Job matching is defined as the collaborative, data-based decision-making process used by transition teams to determine the best fit between an individual's abilities and preferences and the job's Flash Drive 01 environment and occupational demands (Persch et al.)

, 2015). provides a systematic procedure for matching individuals with ID to community-based employment. provides detailed information regarding (1) job seeker interests, skills, strengths, and needs and (2) workplace needs, requirements, and demands. The website allows individuals to explore occupational interests, assesses worker abilities and job demands, and creates a customized report to identify the pros and cons of each potential job match. Attendees of this session will learn about the research behind systematic job matching and customized employment support. They will also have the opportunity to create their own account at and explore how the online tool can support transition planning at a Project SEARCH site.

Dennis Cleary, MS, OTD, OTR/L Indiana University Division of Occupational Therapy, South Bend, IN; Andrew Persch PhD, OTR/L, BCP, Colorado State University Department of Occupational Therapy, Fort Collins, CO. Room 102 Taking Care of Business: The ABC's of a Successful Business Advisory Committee (BAC). One of the core components of a successful Project SEARCH program is starting a Business Advisory Committee (BAC). It has also proved to be one of the most challenging. How do you get started? Who do you ask? How do you keep business people engaged? This training will help answer these questions and give ideas for how to attract the right businesses, how to engage the business representatives with the Interns, and how to identify who the key partners Flash Drive 02 from the steering committee should be.

The goal of the training is to show you how to position the businesses to work for the benefit of Project SEARCH and placing the Interns on jobs and make it fun for everyone involved. You will learn some creative ways to combat the challenging task of creating and sustaining an engaged Business Advisory Council. Rebecca Parks, Vocational Rehabilitation, Unit Manager, Burlington, NC. Room 103/104 Beginner Tips for Project SEARCH - Great Ideas for experienced sites also! This session will focus on great tips for beginners of Project SEARCH to use in the classroom to make things engaging, fun, and outside of the box (or the classroom). Can YouTube be your friend in class to help with lessons on attendance, teamwork, or money management?

Can you use social media to influence your class? How can you turn pictures into lasting memories? How can you help the departments/internship sites know the intern better? What can you do when Flash Drive 03 you need to add the cherry on the great resume or when you need inspirations for classes? How can you build relationships with departments/internship sites? This session will cover all those questions and inspire greatness for your class. Recommended for new teams Vanessa Brown, Project SEARCH Instructor, East Tennessee Children's Hospital, Knoxville, TN. Room 105/106 What, wait? You Want Me to Talk About Sexuality at Project SEARCH ? Talking One-on-One with Individuals Who Have I/DD about Sexuality and Relationships!

Healthy relationship boundaries in the workplace is an important skill for us all. We are seeing more and more examples in our culture of those who have crossed workplace lines. Even though people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are sexual beings, just like everyone, they also need the information and skills to navigate these waters and learn what's okay and not okay in the work setting. This Workshop will explore tips and tools for addressing Flash Drive 04 sexuality one-on-one with our interns. We will explore why this topic can be difficult to approach, how to manage our values, and useful tools that will help you become more comfortable and confident and communicate about this sensitive topic.
