Rail: +6m Entire Penetrometer: COMMITTEE OF STEWARDS: S G Railton (Chairman), T J Vassallo, C L Albrecht, J J E Earl, and Cadets P L Phillips and K A Smart. ef Supplementary Reports: Warwick Farm Racecourse Wednesday 26 January 2022 Race 2: Drinkwise Plate 1400m: Balzando Stable representative Mr T Lee confirmed that the stable is satisfied with the post-race recovery of the gelding, and it will be the intention to continue with its current preparation. Race 3: Harry Angel First Yearlings Handicap 1600m: Tuhinga Stable representative Mr C Duckworth reported satisfaction with the post-race condition of the gelding and advised it is the stable s intention to continue with its current preparation.

Scat s Surfer Girl Stable representative Mr C Duckworth reported satisfaction with the post-race condition of the filly and advised it is the stable s intention to continue with its current preparation. Race 7: Inglis Australia Day Cup 2400m: Navy Cross Co-Trainer Mr Adrian Bott advised the stable was satisfied with the post-race condition of the gelding. Mr Bott added he felt as though the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation and attributed this to the sub-par performance. The gelding will now be spelled. Canterbury Park Racecourse Friday 28 January 2022: Race 7: First Justify Yearlings Sprint 1100m: Way To The Stars Trainer M Smith advised that he was satisfied with the post-race condition of the colt and it is his intention to continue on with its preparation. RACE 1: TAB Highway Plate 1500m: Royal Exit Began only fairly.

Raced keenly for a short distance near the 1000m. King s Trust Bumped shortly after the start by Racketeering which shifted out. Rider T Berry reported that King s Trust settled behind mid field as anticipated. He said that having experienced some difficulty obtaining clear running near the 200m the gelding worked home fairly. Although held up and unable to be tested to the finish T Berry stated that in his view King s Trust performs best over a shorter distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Kinship Began awkwardly. App R Jones reported that after doing some work to settle outside the leader Kinship travelled comfortably throughout the middle stages however after being placed under pressure in the straight laid in and was one paced. He said that the gelding which was attempting 1500m for the first time may be better suited back in distance.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Racketeering After having some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight was obliged to shift to the inside of the heels of Royal Exit passing the 50m to continue into clear running. 20220129RG 2 Lord Desanimaux Jumped outwards at the start and made contact with Golden Gorge. Markievicz Slow to begin. Spritely Emily Began only fairly and from the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Golden Gorge From the 1000m raced wide and without cover. RACE 2: Fujitsu General Canonbury Stakes 1100m (Group 3): Flashing Steel During its preliminary dislodged rider J Collett who took a seemingly harmless fall. After arriving behind the barriers Flashing Steel underwent a veterinary examination by the Club s Official Veterinarian and was deemed suitable to start.

Great Barrier Reef Began awkwardly. J McDonald reported that Great Barrier Reef enjoyed a comfortable run behind the pacemakers. He said however the colt proved somewhat disappointing in the manner in which it responded to his riding in the straight. He added that Great Barrier Reef is still relatively immature and will improve with racing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Mellencamp A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Rakomelo Shortly after the start was bumped by Mellencamp which was taken wider by Great Barrier Reef. RACE 3: Widden Stakes 1100m (Group 3): Ebhaar When questioned S Clipperton stated that he was given no firm instructions, but it was anticipated the filly would settle in a prominent position. He said that when Queen Of The Ball and Pantonario showed superior speed early he elected to take up a trailing position outside of Dame Cartland.

He said however after obtaining this position Ebhaar refused to settle and raced very keenly. He said that when the pace steadied approaching the 600m Ebhaar continued to race very keenly, and he attributed the filly s racing manners in the early and middle stage to its failure to close off in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying a poor post-race recovery. Co-Trainer Mr Paul Snowden stated that he would have preferred Ebhaar to be ridden along for further distance in the early stages in an endeavour to hold a leading position rather than to have been ridden with cover prior to the first turn. He also attributed the filly s failure to it over racing. Mr Snowden was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Ebhaar barrier trialling to the Stewards satisfaction before being permitted to race again.

After passing the 200m was hampered when crowded for room between Mumbai Jewel and Ojai (J McDonald) which after shifting out to pursue an available run between Dame Cartland and Ebhaar continued to shift out as Dame Cartland shifted ground under pressure. J McDonald was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Ojai From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. After leaving the 200m improved into tight running between Dame Cartland and Ebhaar and became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by Ebhaar. Dame Cartland Began awkwardly and made contact with the outside barrier partition. Drisana . When questioned K McEvoy stated that the filly was slow to begin as it had been on debut. He said that immediately on leaving the barriers he felt that Drisana was short in its action behind and was not comfortable to stretch out.

As he had concerns for the filly s welfare, he then did not ride Drisana along and eased her out of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying a restricted action particularly bilaterally in the hindlimbs. The stable advised that it is the intention to undertake further investigation, including a bone scan, the results of which will be reported to the Stewards. Notwithstanding this advice, co-trainer Mr P Snowden was advised that a veterinary 20220129RG 3 clearance would be required prior to Drisana barrier trialling to the Stewards satisfaction prior to racing again. Mumbai Jewel Began awkwardly shifted in and made slight contact with Drisana. Raced wide and without cover from the 900m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Smart Vengeance Shortly after the start was hampered by Ebhaar which shifted out.

Smart Vengeance was then shifted behind runners in the early stages. RACE 4: Chandon Handicap 1500m: Centimental Stewards questioned trainer Mr C Waller and jockey H Bowman regarding the late notification of the intended change of tactics on the mare. Mr Waller advised when assessing this race and devising tactics for his runners it was felt that it would be in Centimental s best interest for it to be ridden behind the speed similarly to how the mare has been ridden in recent starts and this advice was relayed to Stewards. He further stated that when discussing race tactics with H Bowman prior to jockeys mounting, H Bowman had suggested to him that they should consider the option of riding the mare in a more prominent position given his assessment that there was lack of speed in the race and also having regard to the earlier races where the track appeared to be favouring on-pace runners.

Mr Waller further added that he agreed to allow H Bowman to have the option to take up a more prominent position based on how the mare jumped from the barriers and travelled in the initial stages of the race. Having arrived at this decision with jockey Bowman, Mr Waller arranged for Stewards to be notified promptly. Mr Waller conceded that he was aware that this advice to Stewards was later than the time specified in the rules for the notification of change of tactics but felt that allowing jockey Bowman to have some discretion was in the interests of permitting the horse to perform at its best. H Bowman gave evidence that he had not ridden Centimental in a race previously and had no firsthand knowledge of her racing manners but felt there was a lack of pace in the race, and it was obvious to him that on speed runners in earlier races had performed well.
