CONTROLS on page 5 (unfold).Be sure to lower the volume before switchingoff the unit power or the ignition key. The unitremembers its last volume setting. If youswitch the power off with the volume up, whenyou switch the power back on, the sudden loudvolume may hurt your hearing and damage mode adjustments1. Press the [A-M] button to select the adjustmentmode. 3 Adjusting the volumeTurning the [ROTARY] knob clockwise increasesthe volume; turning it counterclockwise decreasesthe volume. The volume level is from 0 (minimum) to 33 (maximum).Setting the Z-EnhancerThis unit are provided with 3 types of sound tone ef-fects stored in memory. Select the one you prefer. The factory default setting is Z-EHCR time you press the [Z] button, the tone ef-fect changes in the following order:Z-ENHANCER 1 Z-ENHANCER 2 Z-EN-HANCER 3 Z-EHCR OFF Z-ENHANCER 1 : bass emphasized Z-ENHANCER 2 : treble emphasized Z-ENHANCER 3 :bass and treble emphasized Z-EHCR OFF: no sound effect10 EnglishDB258 RIllumination dimmer functionWhen the illumination line of this unit is connectedwith the car-side illumination signal line, the dis-play illumination of this unit dims in connectionwith turning on the car-side MUTE: mutes the audio OFF: does not mute the audio sound.

4 During telephone interrupt, the display shows "TEL"Turning the screen saver function onor offThis unit is provided with the screen saver func-tion. You can turn on or off this the button operation is performed with the screensaver function on, the operation display corre-sponding to the button operation is shown forabout 30 seconds and the display returns to thescreen saver display. The factory default setting is the [SS] button while keeping the [BND]button pressed, to turn the screen saver functionon or (Clock Time) functionThe CT function enables you to display clock timeonly when CT data is and hold the [BND] button, and then pressthe [DISP] button, the display switches to CT(Clock Time). 5 In some areas, theCT may not be displayed OperationsTurning on/off MAGNA BASS EXThe MAGNA BASS EX does not adjust the lowsound area like the normal sound adjustment func-tion, but emphasizes the deep bass sound areato provide you with a dynamic sound. The factory default setting is and hold the [A-M] button for 1 second orlonger to turn the MAGNA BASS EX and M-B EX in the display lights on or audio mute for cellulartelephonesThis unit requires special wiring to mute the au-dio signal automatically when a cellular telephonerings in the car. This function is not compatible with all cellular tele-phones. Contact your local authorized Clariondealer for information on proper installation andcompatibility. The factory default setting is TEL OFF .Press and hold the [BND] button, and then pressthe [ ] to select the TEL MUTE or TEL OFF.

6 Switching displayPress and hold the [BND] button, and then pressthe [DISP] button to select the desired display switches in the following order:Main Display Clock (CT) Display Main Display .. If the display is changed by other button operationwhen the clock (CT) is displayed, the clock displayreturns automatically after the OperationsListening to the radio1. Press the [SRC] button and select the radiomode. The frequency or PS appears in the dis-play. PS: Programme service name2. To select a preset band, press the [BND] but-ton, then select one of the preset bands suchas FM1, FM2, FM3 or AM. Every time the [BND]button is pressed, the display will change as:F1 F2 F3 AM Press the [ ] or [ ] button to tune in thedesired are 3 types of tuning mode available, seektuning, manual tuning and preset tuningThere are 2 types of seek tuning: DX SEEK andLOCAL SEEK can automatically tune in to receivablebroadcast stations; LOCAL SEEK can tune in toonly broadcast stations with a good reception Press the [BND] button and select the desiredband (FM or AM (MW, LW)).

7 2. Tune into a station. If MANU is lit in the display, press and holdthe [BND] button for 1 second or longer. If TA is lit in the display, TP stations are auto-matically sought. DX SEEKP ress the [ ] or [ ] button to automaticallyseek a the [ ] button is pressed, the station issought in the direction of higher frequencies; ifthe [ ] button is pressed, the station is sought inthe direction of lower frequencies. When seek tuning starts, DX appears in the dis-play. LOCAL SEEKIf you press and hold the [ ] or [ ] button for 1second or longer, local seek tuning is carried stations with good reception sensitiv-ity are selected. When local seeking starts, LO appears in the tuningThere are 2 ways available: Quick tuning and you are in the step tuning mode, the fre-quency changes one step at a time.

Step tuning:Press the [ ] or [ ] button to manually tunein a a preset stationA total of 24 preset positions (6-FM1, 6-FM2, 6-FM3, 6-AM) exists to store individual radio sta-tions in memory. Pressing the corresponding [DI-RECT] button recalls the stored radio Press the [BND] button and select the desiredband (FM or AM (MW/LW)).2. Press the corresponding [DIRECT] button torecall the stored station.

9 Press and hold one of the [DIRECT] buttons for1 second or longer to store that station into pre-set memory1. Select the desired station with seek tuning,manual tuning or preset Press and hold one of the [DIRECT] buttonsfor 1 second or longer to store the current sta-tion into preset OperationsRDS (Radio Data System)This unit has a built-in RDS decoder system that sup-ports broadcast stations transmitting RDS system can display the name of the broad-cast station being received (PS) and can auto-matically switch to the broadcast station with thebest reception as you move long distances (AFswitching).Also, if a traffic announcement or programme typeis broadcast from an RDS station, no matter whatmode you are in, this broadcast is , if EON information is received, thisinformation enables automatic switching of otherpreset stations on the same network and inter-ruption of the station being received with trafficinformation from other stations (TP).

10 This func-tion is not available in some using the RDS function, always set the ra-dio to FM mode. AF: Alternative Frequency PS: Programme Service Name PTY: Programme Type EON: Enhanced Other Network TP: Traffic Programme RDS interrupt does not function during AM functionThe AF function switches to a different frequencyon the same network in order to maintain opti-mum reception. The factory default setting is ON . Switching OFF the AF functionPress the [AF] button. AF in the display goes offand the AF function turns off. Switching ON the AF functionPress the [AF] button. AF in the display lightsand the AF function turns on. If the reception of the current broadcast station de-teriorates, SEARCH appears in the display andthe radio searches for the same programme onanother storeAuto store is a function for storing up to 6 stationsthat are automatically tuned in sequentially.
