1 PC60, MB60 & SW6080 AmpereMiniature Direct Current ContactorsSW60 APC60 AThe PC60 , MB60 & SW60 are a new family of miniaturedirect Current Contactors andsolenoid switches which aredesigned to fill the gap between30 Ampere relays and 100ampere family is divided into two distinctbranches, PC60/MB60 for printed circuit boardmounting and SW60 free standing Contactors and each hasits own selection of variations and are unique designs for printed circuit board mountingand the following variations and configurations areavailable:80 AmpereMiniature Direct CurrentContactorsPC SERIESPCB MOUNTINGMINIATURE DC CONTACTORS2 The Use ofMiniature DCContactorsThe PC , MB & SW Contactors represent anovel dual approach tothe requirements for DCcontactors.
2 On the one hand theexpansion ofTelecommunications Systems,UPS and other PowerConversion Systems hasled to a demand forcompact, easily installedand economically pricedcontactors which up untilnow have not been the introduction of the PC60 & MB60 Contactors ,this demand has now beeneffectively met. On the other hand the SW60 range fulfills the requirementsfor more traditional DCcontactor applications:switching or reversing smalltraction motors, hydraulicpower packs, small electricwinch motors, the Contactors aremanufactured to a very highstandard and employ bestquality materials: phenoliccontact housings, silver alloycontacts and Class H (180 C)winding wire for the plated heavy Current andgold plated light currentcomponents are also used onthe PC60 & MB60 new Contactors are aunique and innovativeintroduction from the world sleading manufacturer of BlowoutsPC60B, PC61B & PC63B The Contactors can be fitted with magnetic blowouts for switchingcurrent at higher dc voltages (guide: >60V for resistive loads and>48V for inductive loads).
3 If the application calls for frequent switching under these conditions, itis recommended that a contact housing with open apertures isspecified. This is available as a no cost fitted with magnetic blowouts it is important that the correctpolarity for the main terminal connections is ContactsPC60A, PC61A & PC63AA double circuit changeover 5 Ampere microswitch auxiliary contactcan be is fitted in a purpose designed holder with gold plated pickups forthe microswitch terminals and pins for soldering Direct to a printedcircuit Pole On/OffNormally Open Contactor (SP ST NO)PC61 Single Pole Changeover Contactor (SP DT)PC63 Single Pole On/OffNormally Closed Contactor (SP ST NC)

Theyare protected to versions can be washed after soldering tothe board and may be used in dirty or Contactors with Auxiliary , & the auxiliary contacts are supplied already fitted to the contactorbut if the printed circuit boards are to be washed after soldering, theauxiliary contact is supplied separately and the contactor is temporarilysealed with a rubber plug which is removed after washing and theauxiliary contact is then Contactors are not therefore fully protected against the environment tothe same degree as the , and accommodate the PC Contactors .
5 Printed circuit boards should be drilledin accordance with the drawing on page 4. Prior to soldering, the PC60, PC61 and PC63 can be secured to the circuit boardby means of a M4 bolt which protrudes from the underside of the contactor. If the full Current ratings of the Contactors are to be utilised, circuit boardtracks should have the appropriatethickness and width of copper. Conventional hand or wave solderingtechniques can be used and if thecircuit board is to be washed theappropriate , , , , be SERIESPC60/61/633 Explanation of Type NumbersPC60-A-B-P-W-MMagnetic LatchingWashable ContactorsRubber Gasket ProtectionWith magnetic blowoutsWith auxiliary contactsMain type numberPC60 ADimensions in mm (inches).

After soldering and washing the printed circuitboard, the PC contactor can be plugged into thebase and secured by means of a nut on theunderside of the board. Removal for servicing or replacement is possibleby removal of the nut and unplugging the PCcontactor from the base. 4MB SERIESMB60/61/6380 AmpereMiniatureDC NO. 7 MB60 AMagnetically Latched PC60, MB60 and SW60PC60M, MB60M & SW60M The Contactors can be supplied with magnetic latching - one short pulse toclose the main contacts - one short pulse to reopen them again. The result is a bi-stable device, the coil of which consumes no power exceptduring the closing and opening strokes, and because there is in effect noheating of the coil, the Contactors can be engineered in the first place withmore powerful coils and springs than with conventional Contactors . Contact ratings and all external dimensions are identical to those of theequivalent types which have conventionally energised coils. Similarly all the additional features which are available with the other PC60and SW60 types can be found with the magnetically latched versions, egauxiliary contacts, magnetic blowouts for the main contacts, protected, etc.
8 For more details of the operation of the M versions, please see the Albright publication: Power Consumption Reduction for Albright Contactors .Installation Mounting is by M4 tapped holes in the contactor frametogether with a selection of mounting arrangement is for the Contactors to be suppliedwith two M4 holes on each side of the contactor frame to allow Direct attachment to panels etc. For other options see left. Paired ContactorsSW64 & SW66 The Contactors can be supplied in assembled pairs withthe appropriate connecting links. In the case of the SW66, the contactor is configured with links for motorreversing. The resultant circuit is failsafe so that if both coils are energised simultaneously, an open circuit Note.
9 Very Important:Magnetically latchedcontactors do not fail safe. If there is a power failure, orif the supply to the contactorcoil is broken, the contactorcontacts will not open orclose, ie the contactor willnot change state. These devices should nottherefore be used inapplications where the failureof contacts to open or closecould result in a hazardoussituation for persons orequipment.
