UL then labels the tested safes chart below defines the UL labeling system, aswell as the Safe Manufacturers NationalAssociation (SMNA) equivalent classificationsAll burglary resistant safes are required to havecombination type locking devices. All UL burglaryresistant safes also have relocking devices topreserve the integrity of the safe if the combinationlocking devices are defeated. 3 The safe should be equipped with two locks,one of which must be a combination lock. The premises intrusion alarm system should beextended to protect the door and all sides of thesafe. The safe should be readily visible from thestreet and illuminated at night. Safes should not be located against an exteriorwall or an interior partition wall, if the partitionwall separates your occupancy from anotheroccupancy in a multi-tenant building. The safe combination should be changedwhenever someone who knows the combinationleaves your employ. A warranty should be provided on the safe forall parts, labor and materials. Used reconditioned safes may not provide thedegree of protection that their labels in doubt, check with the safemanufacturer.
