ALUMCOA Word from the Chairman ALUMCO : The Habit of Winning As I look back at the year s beginning and the uncertainties that we were facing, I can t help but feel great pride with the magnificent efforts and undeniable achievements that you have all accomplished throughout this the best way to describe my thoughts and feelings is to quote the great Vincent Lombardi (American Football coach who led his team to three straight league championships): Winning is not a sometime thing; it s an all time thing. You don t win once in a while, you don t do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit. Unfortunately, so is losing. One of our most valuable assets in ALUMCO is our company culture which caters for success and defies even the most challenging circumstances. 1 ALUMCOA Word from the Chairman ALUMCO : The Habit of Winning As I look back at the year s beginning and the uncertainties that we were facing, I can t help but feel great pride with the magnificent efforts and undeniable achievements that you have all accomplished throughout this the best way to describe my thoughts and feelings is to quote the great Vincent Lombardi (American Football coach who led his team to three straight league championships): Winning is not a sometime thing; it s an all time thing. You don t win once in a while, you don t do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit. Unfortunately, so is losing. One of our most valuable assets in ALUMCO is our company culture which caters for success and defies even the most challenging circumstances. 2 We are fighters. We are survivors. But above all, we are it gives me great pleasure to see that the promises that Mr. Noureddine and I had made to you in our previous edition have been fulfilled, and this Year of Opportunities has blossomed into new successes and achievements thanks to each and everyone one of let s maintain our healthy habits such as commitment, team spirit, and dedication. But most of all, let s keep our Habit of Winning .Have a fruitful year, full of hope and determination. The Secret to Success One of the most valuable lessons in Organization Management was given to me by a single statement made by Thomas Watson, Sr. (previous Chairman and CEO of IBM) around 50 years ago, To be successful, you have to have your heart in your business, and your business in your heart .Gloomy political conditions will probably slow you down. Rocky economy will hinder your growth.

But none of them can make you fail. Failure is entirely your choice. So if you put your heart in everything you do then success is bound to come. And this is ALUMCO s secret year is ending, and, although its beginnings were quite unpredictable, we have come together as one team and we have beaten the odds. Another year of challenges, and another year of the beginning of the year, Mr. Haddad and I had promised you that unprecedented growth is on its way and we will be the leaders of the coming change. Our promise to you has been fulfilled today not by coincidence nor by magic, but by pure determination and commitment from each and every one of all of you I say congratulations on a job very well done and always remember to add ALUMCO s secret ingredient to every task you undertake .Nabih HaddadA Word from the CEOS amer Noureddine1 The Habit of Winning Engineering Solutions for Creative Minds | December 2012 Engineering Solutions for Creative MindsALUMCO KSA branch was the start of ALUMCO successful journey with its mother company MADARIOUN back in 1995, since then the KSA market was a vital space for ALUMCO this branch was passive particularly in its commercial division thus in essential need for extraordinary efforts to revive the so long moderate sales was time to take action and restructure this division by engaging a new active team at ALUMCO International section of KSA with the sales manager Ahmad Keymouz and a well equipped estimation team led by Jawad required collaborative efforts of the team engaging hard work.

And still we do as an IT department is probably not the most significant part of ALUMCO s main business operations, and the level of impact it has might not be at the top of the priorities list when compared to the different functional processes; nevertheless, if you think about it, your every activity relies, in one way or another, on a service provided by mistakenly presume that IT is basically changing a printer s ink cartridge or fixing a broken computer, many perceive it as something as simple as owning their home computer and running a $20 DSL internet connection. Well, that is as far from the truth as it can get; it looks easy, but only because the management has given us the trust and space to plan right and has acknowledged the right to invest; on a side note, all departments have their own small day-to-day activities, How and when IT happened?

2009 was the mark of a great milestone, the crown jewel of 3 years of hard work put into researching, planning, designing, and implementing a complete and fully featured Data Center which housed a total of 33 Servers running on 21 GHz Quad-Core Xeon high-speed processing power, 384GB of RAM Memory, 24 Tera Bytes of storage, 3 complex Security Appliances, a 10MB of dedicated corporate internet connection speed, and over 25 different but completely integrated Enterprise Applications to provide the different services you use on a daily was the year of organizing, structuring, improving, expanding, and standardizing every single function and service which led to one interconnected and coherent infrastructure linking 4 main branches and 5 secondary main and site offices with each other and with our Data had yet another milestone, as ALUMCO signed the most prestigious and expensive agreement, code-named Enterprise Agreement , with Microsoft included a three-year renewable contract.

This brings the total of software license costs over the past few years to an excess of $350, which shows how important software licensing has although half of it already looks jinxed (has the number 13!), I am optimistic that it can also bring good potential, same as every other year. Whatever the future may hold, I leave you with this self-explanatory quote (I know everyone will explain this their own ways to please their own egos ;)). Personally, I might lack a few but, the last was a principle I kept an eye on throughout my career. There are seven things that will destroy us: Wealth without work; Pleasure without conscience; Knowledge without character; Religion without sacrifice; Politics without principle; Science without humanity; Business without ethics. Mahatma Gandhicompanies in Lebanon to plan, design, and implement their own Virtual Cloud.

The term Cloud Computing usually goes along names such as Google, Yahoo, Amazon, and many more organizations that provide online services to their users but of course on an extremely large scale and budget, and using much larger support that same year, our humble team of four IT Support staff was in place; Salam in Lebanon, Latheesh in Qatar, Nazim in Dubai, and recently Mohammed Yaseen in Jeddah. Supporting an average of 110+ users each, they all did a superb job keeping each branch s infrastructure intact and ensuring smooth operations as well as supporting the different site offices. They were possibly one of the best choices I made in ALUMCO , for few can do what they do year in and year out, and still keep their feet on the Today - The Habit of Winning | December 2012 Few short months separate me from completing a seven year run with ALUMCO , five of which I can easily say were the toughest and most demanding years of my professional career.
