OPERATION SERVICE PARTSTUGIT2 Manually Operated Short HandleLever HoistA3140-XXXSold & Serviced byMorgan Aero 1450 80th Street SW Everett WA PRECAUTIONSWARNING!Improper operation of a hoist can create apotentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury. To avoidsuch a potentially hazardous situation, the operatorShall:1. NOT operate a malfunctioning or unusuallyperforming NOT operate the hoist until you have thoroughlyread and understood this Operating,Maintenance and Parts NOT lift or pull more than rated load for thehoist4. NOT use damaged hoist or hoist that is NOTworking NOT us a hoist with twisted, kinked, damaged,or worn load NOT operate with an lever extension (cheaterbar).7. NOT attempt to free chain the hoist8.

NOT use the hoist to lift, support or NOT lift loads over people and make sure allpersonnel remain clear of the supported NOT attempt to lengthen the load chain orrepair damaged load Protect the hoist s load chain from anydamaging NOT operate hoist when it is restricted fromforming a straight line from hook to hook in thedirection of NOT use load chain as a sling or wrap loadchain around NOT apply the load to the tip of the hook or tothe hook NOT apply load unless load chain is properlyseated in the chain sprocket NOT apply load if bearing prevents equalloading on all load supporting chains17. NOT operate beyond the limits of the load NOT leave load supported by the hoistunattended unless specific precautions havebeen NOT operate the hoist unless load attachmentsare seated NOT operate a hoist unless all persons are andremain clear of the supported REPORT malfunctions or unusual performanceof hoist and do not re-use until checked byqualified BE familiar with operation controls, procedures, and !

Improper operation of a hoist can create apotentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in injury to persons or damage toequipment. Top avoid such a potentially hazardoussituation the operator shall:1. MAINTAIN a firm footing or be otherwisesecured when operation the CHECK brake function by tensioning the hoistprior to each USE hook MAKE sure the hook latches are closed and notsupporting any parts of the MAKE sure the load is free to move and willclear all AVOID swinging the KEEP a firm grip on the lever until operationstroke is completed and the lever is at INSPECT the hoist regularly, replace damagedor worn parts, and keep appropriate records USE only recommended parts when repairingthe LUBRICATE load chain per maintenancemanual11. NOT operate except with manual NOT permit more than one operator to pull onlever at the same time.

More than one operatoris likely to cause hoist NOT allow attention to be diverted from properoperation of the NOT adjust or repair the hoist unless qualifiedto perform such adjustments or the hoist and chain clean to insure not use on loads beyond the operating range ofthe not use for lifting people or for lifting loads not leave a load on the hoist and understand this manual prior to not hold or pull on load chain while alert, Watch what you are doing. Use not operate hoist when under the influence ofalcohol, drugs or medication that may causediminished lift loadProperly attach hoist per tooling the lever trigger to the UP position. Operatelever in an up and down pulling or lifting move the load only enough toslightly load the unit, then check to be sure that theattachments to the load connections are firmlyseated and positively that the load and the path of load movementis clear and free of under any circumstance us a lever extensionor any form of cheater bar to operate lower loadMove the lever trigger to the DN position.

Operatethe lever in an up and down lifting operation is complete inspect the hoistas directed in the inspection maintain continuous and satisfactory operation, aregular periodic inspection procedure must beinitiated so that worn, damaged and missing partscan be replaced before the unit becomes frequency of inspection must be determined byuser procedures, regulations and normal usage use the following as a guide toproper the unit is subjected to heavy usage or dusty, gritty, moist or corrosive atmospheric conditions, shorter time periods between inspections must beused. Inspection must be made of all parts forunusual wear, corrosion or damage, in addition tothose specifically mentioned in the schedule. Makecertain that the unit is complete and contains allparts including end part s that are deemed unserviceable must bereplaced with new parts before the unit is returnedto service.

It is very important that theunserviceable parts be destroyed and disposed of toprevent their possible future use as a repair the proper repair parts and required service canbe obtained through Morgan InspectionsThese inspections are by the operator or otherdesignated personnel. Frequent inspections are tobe performed prior to each use and are to includethe following:1. Check for free movement of the lever anddirection control Operate hoist with no load and check for visualsigns or abnormal noises that could indicate apotential Check brake for evidence of Check chain for lubrication, worn or damagedlinks or foreign object Check attach point s for any evidence ofcracking, bending or other Check lever and directional trigger for damageand proper deficiencies noted during pre-use inspectionmust be corrected before using the InspectionsThese are visual inspections by an appointed personwho records conditions to provide a basis for acontinuing evaluation of the hoist.

Periodicinspections are to be performed semi-annually or asspecified by owners regulations and procedures andshould include the following:1. All items listed under Frequent Inspections 2. Evidence of loose or damaged screw s Evidence of worn, corroded, cracked or distortedupper and lower attach points, frame, end ring, attach block, covers, lever, suspension bolt, gears, bearings, pawls, pawl springs, levercover, ratchet hub, stripper and Evidence of worn, glazed or oil contaminatedfriction discs. Frictions discs should be replacedif their thickness is less than .075 inch (2mm).NOTE: To perform some of the periodic inspectionsit will be necessary to partially disassemble thehoist. Refer to the Disassembly and Assemblyprocedure deficiencies noted during the periodic inspectionmust be corrected before using the ChainChain should feed smoothly into and away from thehoist.

If chain binds, jumps or is noisy, first cleanand lubricate it. If trouble persists, inspect chainand mating parts for wear, distortion or insure the chain is free from knots chain with a non-caustic, non-acid typesolvent and make a link by link inspection for nicks, gouges, twisted links, cracks in the weld area, wearand stretching. Chain with any of these defectsmust be replacing chain the entire length must bereplaced. Never attempt to repair, lengthen ormodify the hoist load chain. Load chain is specialchain manufactured to precise tolerances for use onspecific lever hoists. NEVER use any chain that isnot supplied by the hoist manufacturer or personalinjury or equipment damage could 1 For the following procedure refer to Fig. the portion of the chain that normally passesover the liftwheel.

Examine the interlink area forthe point of maximum wear (polishing). Measureand record the stock diameter at this point of thelink. Then measure stock diameter in the same areaon a link that does not pass through the liftwheel(use a link adjacent to the end ring for thispurpose). Compare these two measurements. Ifthe stock diameter of the worn link is inches(.254mm), or more, less than the stock diameter ofthe unworn link, the chain must be check the chain for stretch. Use a verniercaliper as shown in Figure 2 Select an unused, unstretched section of chain(usually at the loose end) and measure and recordthe length over 11 chain links (pitches). Measureand record the same length on a worn section ofchain. Obtain the amount of stretch and wear bysubtracting the measurement of the unworn sectionfrom the measurement of the worn section.

If theresult (amount of stretch and wear) is greater inch ( ), the chain must be only a knife edge caliper to eliminate possibilityof false reading by not measuring full pitch that worn chain can be an indication of wornhoist components. For this reason, the hoist sframe, stripper, and liftwheel should be examinedfor wear and replaced as necessary when replacingworn load chain is specially heat treated, hardenedand dimensioned and should never be not use replaced chain for other purposes suchas lifting or pulling. Load chain my break suddenlywithout visual deformation. For this reason, cutreplaced chain into short lengths to prevent it s useafter LubricationA small amount of lubricant will greatly increase thelife of load chain. Do not allow the chain to run it clean and lubricate at regular intervals with agood quality chain and bar lubricant.
