Low thermal conductivity. Non conductive. Non magnetic. Non STEELR ecommended where rust resistance is the OptionsSAFETYThe slip resistance of the flooring and walkway productneeds to be considered. Standard grating comprises plainsquare edge flat bars. To increase slip resistance the following points should beconsidered on sloping & ALUMINIUM GRATINGA lthough not mandated by AS 1657 the use of 10 x 10mmsquare bar cleats or abrasive strips can be used foradditional security.

6 ISO recommends cleats between10 and 20 . Serrated (see page 18) grating can bespecified. Stainless steel and any bars 20mm deep are notrecommended to be serrated. In addition both steel and aluminium grating can improvetheir slip resistance by setting the direction of walking overthe floor parallel to the loadbars. In steel grating there isbetter slip resistance in patterns with 100mm cross rodcentres. Pattern A and GRATING (FRP)FRP grating is normally provided with an antiskid surface. This is a coarse grit that is embedded into the top surfaceof the grating. Plain top surface is METALSlip resistance is improved if the direction of walking is parallel to the Short Way Mesh (SWM).TOP SURFACEMILD steel GRATING/EXPANDED METALA vailable Galvanised (AS/NZS 4680), Bitumen Dipped or left steel GRATINGA vailable Electro Polished, Garnet Blasted or left Mill GRATING Available Anodised, Powder Coated, Painted or left GRATING (FRP) Available in a variety of colours.

8 Use the Quick Guide on page 1 and add the options for Material, Top Surface, Treatment/Colours and Panel size (if required) on page 3. or2. Choose a pattern from page 2 and choose a Load Bar from the Load Deflection Table on pages 6 & 7. Add the options on page Panel size should be stated only if you want a stock panel. For example, A325 MPU2 for an untreated stock panel 1200 x Fabricated grating the code would read Specify whether the grating is to be Banded or Cut To Size Only by referring to the Terminology on page Nominate the number of panels required and provide dimensions for width and span of each panel. Span is always the last Where large floor areas are required provide a drawing of the area to be covered showing:a) ) ) Section size, location of, and toe direction of the support ) Location and size of cut outs and removable ) Location of kick plate and ) Indicate if penetrations are required to be Specify fastener type if required.

9 See pages 14 & Direction Grating and expanded metal needs to be supported in a specific way. The direction that the load bars run is theimportant direction for grating and is referred to as the span. For expanded metal the span is in the direction of the strands or Long Way Mesh (LWM). Span is always the last dimension given when referencing a panel size. Grating and expanded metal has to be supported 90 to the span direction and does not require support on theother span direction1010101250 Examples: F403 APMG3861GG5 For the shaded items theresultant code would beA325 MPG1 Example: Shown here with standard panel widths of 995mm.
