2 James s Place community. Particular in 2017 with a record million million raised with double matching to celebrate 25 years of the Foundation. The ACM featured the launch of Dean Stott s Foundation sponsored efforts to raise 1 million for mental health charities over the next year (featured in this edition).It also provided us with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Mike Wilson s significant contribution to the Foundation. A joint founder of the Foundation, he has also served 26 years as a Trustee, the last six as our Chairman. The vision, skills, entrepreneurial and generous spirit of both Mike and Sir Mark Weinberg set the Foundation on its path to success, as they did for the company.

3 An important part of the Foundation s giving history is its support for the charity Hope and Homes for Children (HHC); a total of 7 million has been donated to support its work with orphaned and abandoned children. Mike is a big supporter of HHC and he has visited Eastern Europe to see their vital work in person. HHC CEO Mark Waddington paid tribute to Mike recently: For those who believe that success needs to be measurable, then Mike has aced it. But for those of us who also see success in other ways inspiring colleagues to always do better, imbuing respect and kindness in the way an organisation works and harnessing that to make the world a better place for everyone to live in then Mike has defined it.

Not only does the book give the reader insight into Mike s successful business principals, it also highlights his passion for helping people in need. Dean embarks on an epic adventure and a new sport, as he attempts to pedal 14,000 miles along the Pan-American Highway in a world record time, in partnership with the St.

6 James s Place Charitable Foundation. Together the aim is to challenge the mental health stigma, to raise awareness and 1 million for the eight Heads Together charities, The Mix, Place2Be, Contact, Mind, CALM, Best Beginnings, Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families and Young Minds. Dean s fundraising has got off to an incredible start with Partners and employees attending the Partners Dinner generously donating a total of 265,485 a big thank to everyone who contributed. A further 265,485 will be added via Company matching to benefit other mental health charities.

7 In 2017 the St. James s Place community agreed to add Improved Mental Health for all ages as a theme to help guide future grant giving. His work as Chairman of the Foundation over the last six years has been instrumental in many aspects of our also took the opportunity to present the award in person to Mike, who was a surprise guest at the meeting and his partner Sophie spoke on his behalf to thank all who have contributed to the Foundation.

9 4 146,593 granted toAcorn s Children s Hospice A grant of 146,593 has been awarded to Midlands based children s charity Acorns to fund their vital work in support of children with life limiting conditions. This grant will fund the outreach work of a nursing team operating in the Black Country over the next 3 years delivering care services to ill children and their families outside of the hospice. The children and young people they help are not expected to reach adulthood and require specialist care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Acorns has been in operation for 30 years and over the last year has supported 876 children and 1,097 families, including those who are learn about their work 60,000 granted to Back-Up TrustThe Back Up Trust provides support and help in rebuilding lives following a spinal cord injury.

10 The UK-registered charity provides dedicated services for young 60,000 grant will help fund their national support programme for under-25s. The programme is designed to help young people affected by spinal cord injury realise their full potential. It is based on a pioneering approach where volunteers who have positively adjusted to their own spinal cord injuries act as role models. Their services for young people build confidence, teaching vital skills for independence. 60,000 granted to The Project A grant of 60,000 has been awarded to South Birmingham Young Homeless Project (SBYHP).
