Therapeutic concepts such as mindfulness, distress toler-ance, and emotion regulation are reinforced through this alternate from art therapy projects is combined with other information gathered bythe treatment team to inform an accurate diagnosis and treatment Chain Analysis Group: Patients learn to analyze their problem behaviorsin terms of vulnerability factors, triggers, and consequences. They identify the deci-sions that seem to be unimportant but can lead to problem behaviors, as well asalternatives to such decisions. They discuss how to repair emotional or physicaldamage that the problem behaviors may have Meeting/Goals Group: Morning mindfulness practice, business suchas attendance, reading of community guidelines, patient requests and managementof community-related concerns.
7 Groups are used to assess each patient, review hisor her progress and his or her application of Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT)skills. Patients review goals for treatment, including concrete targets and DBT skillsto practice for the 6-hour program day and the afternoon/ Regulation/PLEASE Skills Group: Psychoeducation regarding healthylifestyles including nutrition education, exercise education, coping skills for stress,anxiety, and depression and relapse prevention and recovery from substance : Physical activity in the Four Winds Hospital Control in the Age of Social Media:A group to generalize DBTskills specifically to the use of cell phones, video games , internet, and email, asthe constant availability and instantaneous gratification inherent in these tech-nological platforms present particular challenges to patients struggling withemotion regulation issues.
8 (This is the same for adol, adult) Adolescent DBT/Skills: Adapted for adolescents from standard DialecticalBehavior Therapy for Adolescents. Topics center around coping with fear anddepression, or anger without giving into urges to act impulsively. Also focus onovercoming problems with depression such as anhedonia and lack of initiation,maintaining relationships, and increasing : Clinicians, nurses, and milieu managers eat with patients to observe andinteract in a less structured situation. Social skills are discussed and modeled, as arethe basics of proper nutrition. Patients with eating disorders are monitored forunhealthy eating Education Group: Review of individual medication concerns andgroup discussions about compliance, side effects, and other medication issues.
9 Theregistered nurse helps the patients to engage in problem solving of individual prob-lems with compliance, finances, and dispensing Exercise: Practice and concrete application of age-appropriatemindfulness DBT:DBT principles explained and practiced using examplesfrom music, visual arts, and film. This group is particularly aimed at enhancingfull and mindful participation in experiential techniques. (This is the same foradol, child, adult)Psychotherapy: Use of role play and psychodramatic techniques to examinelearning history as well as to facilitate emotion identification. School: Attendance at the Four Winds Hospital Learning Center includes group andindividual tutoring at grade level. Addiction Education:Psychoeducation regarding substance abuse and support Review and Evening Goals Group:Brief assessment of patients moodand level of safety before the patients leave for the day.
