Troubles, causes and remedial actions31. Application and operating rangeProgressive cavity pumps are rotary self-priming displa-cement pumps for pumping and metering low and highviscous liquids, neutral or aggressive, clean or abrasiveliquids, liquids containing gases or which tend to froth, including liquids containing fibrous and solid material. BFor the operating range, please refer tothe order data Performance dataThe precise performance data of the pump can betaken from the order data Abbreviated type codingThe following scheme is used for the abbreviated typecoding of the progressive cavity pumps :Example:Series A E B 1 E 100 IEA E D B 1 E 150 IEProduct Number of stages Mechanic SizeDesign The abbreviated type coding is stamped on the name-plate of the WarrantyOur liability for shortcomings in the supply is stated inour terms of delivery.

No liability will be accepted fordamages arising from non-compliance with the oper-ating instructions and operating conditions. If, at any later date, the operating conditions arechanged ( different liquid pumped, speed, viscosity, temperature or pressure conditions), it must bechecked and, if necessary, confirmed by us, in individualcases, whether the pump is suitable for this any special agreements have been made, duringthe warranty period, pumps supplied by us may only beopened or modified by us or one of our authorisedservice centres. Otherwise, our liability for any defectswill be TestingPrior to leaving our factory, all pumps are subjected to aleak and performance test.

Only perfectly operatingpumps, which achieve the guaranteed performance, leave the factory. Compliance with the following oper-ating instructions will thus ensure trouble-free oper-ation. 2. SafetyThese operating instructions contain basic informationthat must be observed during installation, operation andmaintenance. Therefore, prior to final installation andcommissioning, these operating instructions must beread by the installation engineer, as well as by thesupervising personnel/operator, and must always beavailable at the place of installation of themachine/plant. Not only is the general safety information listed underthe main heading of Safety to be observed, but alsothe special safety hints provided under other mainheadings, for private use.

Marking of hints in the operating instructionsThe safety hints contained in these operating instruc-tions, relating to situations which may cause danger topersonnel in the event of non-compliance, are speciallymarked with the general hazard symbol!Safety symbolaccording to DIN 4844 W9 And, for warnings relating to electrical voltage, with$Safety symbolaccording to DIN 4844 W8 For safety hints where non-compliance may causedanger to the machine and its operation, the wordBis hints attached directly to the machine, such as,for example: Rotation arrow Labels for fluid connectionsmust always be observed and kept in completely Qualification and training of personnelPersonnel engaged in operation, maintenance, inspec-tion and assembly must have appropriate qualificationsfor these tasks.

Area of responsibility, competence andsupervision of personnel must be precisely controlledby the user. Personnel with inadequate knowledge mustreceive training and instruction. If required, this can beprovided on behalf of the user by the manufacturer/sup-plier. In addition, the user must ensure that the contentsof the operating instructions are fully understood by thepersonnel. Non-compliance with the safetyinformation will lead to the loss of any damage compen-sation claims.

In detail, non-compliance may, for example, result in thefollowing dangers: Failure of important functions of the machine/plant Failure of specified procedures for maintenance andservicing Danger to persons due to electrical, mechanical andchemical influences Danger to the environment due to leakage of hazard-ous Safety-conscious working The safety hints provided in this operating manual, thecurrent national accident prevention regulations, as wellas the user s in-house operating and safety regulations, must be observed. Safety hints for the user/operator If hot or cold machine parts are dangerous, theseparts must be protected against accidental contacton site.
