AERIAL LIFT (SCISSOR & BOOM) OPERATOR TRAINING INFORMATION Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as if working for the Lord, not for men. Colossians 3:23 WHAT MAKES OUR TRAINING UNIQUE? Prior to on-site classes, our instructors will conduct an AERIAL work platform walk through, asking questions about your applications and policies, as well as making suggestions for safety improvement and OSHA compliance. This allows us to focus on your most important issues, help you correct any problems and eliminate coverage of topics which do not apply to your company. View a copy of OSHA s AERIAL lift standards at We have the ability to come to your site to conduct hands-on evaluations, or if you don t own an AERIAL lift or have a suitable area to operate one, you may choose to use those which are in stock at one of our training centers.

AERIAL lift training is a core business, not something we do on the side or a few times a year. We take pride in our instructors knowledge, in the quality of our programs and in the results we achieve. You won t find us relying on a video tape to teach the class; our trainers will make a difference in how your people feel about working safely! STANDARD TRAINING FEATURES We retain and back up your certification records electronically. If you ever lose them or need them replaced, we have you covered. We provide continuing support and consultation via phone and email at no charge. If you have an AERIAL lift safety question, we ll get you the answer! We use pictures and video clips of real AERIAL lift accidents to help prevent similar situations at your site.

Our training is both realistic and relevant. We can include basic instruction on both scissor lifts and articulating boom lifts. Each type of lift gets its own classroom instruction, written test and hands-on evaluation as required by OSHA. SAMPLE TRAINING OUTLINE Introduction, outline, and provision for practice operation Benefits of training Management s role in safety versus the OPERATOR s role Knowing your AERIAL lift & the importance of reading the OPERATOR s manual The big four safety issues including tip-over, fall, collision and electrocution Basic components and typical control layouts Vehicle capacities The use of fall protection, as it applies to AERIAL lifts Standard and emergency ground controls Surface conditions Outside operation issues Pedestrian safety Operating in tight areas Basic operational issues Traveling rules Damage to equipment and facilities Parking Ramp operation Proper fueling procedures Personal protective equipment Pre-shift checks Safety equipment (alarms, strobes, etc.)

NOTE: We customize our on-site class outline to reflect only those topics which apply to each customer s site and specific equipment. Other topics are available upon request. It is your responsibility, as the employer, to provide the AERIAL lift OPERATOR s manuals to your operators and ensure they have read them, as well as any site specific policies which might exist. COMMENTS FROM OUR CUSTOMERS When we shopped around, we found your company was the only one that really offered customized service, since most forklift dealerships were selling very generic one size fits all programs. I want to take a minute and let you know how much I appreciated the time and effort you put into our class.

I am confident that your presentation has made an indelible impression on our staff. I am already hearing communication between co-workers which reflects to me that they are taking this as seriously as they should. Many of our experienced operators, who have been through many training classes over the years, commented on how much more they learned in your classes, compared to other classes they had attended . You and your instructors have proven flexible enough to meet my three shift scheduling requirements. The presentation style has been professional and interesting and the final product has been a safe, confident driver. It is my opinion that your program far exceeds the revised OSHA requirements, and with the ability to make changes and updates to the programs as the OSHA standards evolve, we are now positioned to maintain a highly effective and up-to-date program for many years to come.

NOT ALL TRAINING IS CREATED EQUAL It s unwise to pay too much, but it s worse to pay too little. When you pay too little you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot it can t be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder it is well to add something for the risk you have run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better. John Ruskin (1819-1900) WE CAN HELP SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS EXAMPLES OF LIFT SPECIFIC INFORMATION OPTION 1: TRAINING AT YOUR LOCATION Course Description: This class is for companies needing employees to be formally trained to operate an AERIAL work platform.

This is the perfect class if you have new operators and want to ensure they have proper training according to the OSHA standards. If you have existing operators, but are unsure of the quality and content of their past training, you are missing their documentation or if they were certified through a prior employer, this would also be your best choice for training. The class includes approximately four hours of classroom instruction, written testing and hands-on evaluations for each type of AERIAL work platform they will be using. The hands-on evaluation portion is one to several hours depending on class size and experience. We are experts at working around busy schedules and will find days and times which work for your facility.

Topics include OSHA standards and also best practices for safe operation. We show operators why they should work safely and the consequences of what can happen to their health and families if the rules are not followed. The pre- training walk through, all classroom instruction, hands on evaluations, plus all OSHA required follow up paperwork for each trainee are included in the cost of your training. If you do not own AERIAL lifts, or have a suitable area for hands on evaluations, see option two below. OPTION 2: TRAINING AT OUR TRAINING CENTER Course Description: Providing the same quality instruction as option one, option two is geared towards companies which only rent AERIAL lifts, who don t have an area suitable for hands-on testing, who have only a few people to train or who want to break training up into smaller groups of less than six at one time.

Classes are held on a regular basis in Columbus, Ohio and special dates are available upon request for groups of six or in other areas. Central Ohio Dates: Central Ohio Registration: OPTION 3: RE-EVALUATIONS Course Description Our re-evaluation class is geared towards companies with operators which have already been properly certified at your company and are in need of re-evaluation. The class consists of approximately one hour of classroom instruction. Topics such as OPERATOR focus and pedestrian safety, along with real life accident pictures and video clips, will remind your operators about the consequences of unsafe actions. It will get the attention of your experienced operators who already know how to operate safely, but may not be applying that knowledge.
