7 Spend some time this Advent in prayer before Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. There will also be expanded opportunities for confession. We will have multiple priests hearing over 20 hours of confession. Let s make use of this time to our spiritual advantage and truly prepare for the Way of the Lord. Please feel free to stop by and pray during any of these hours. So that Our Lord may not be left alone, a least two (2) people are needed to be in the Cathedral during these hours. A sign up sheet is in the back of the Cathedral for those who are able to sign up to stay for a designated hour. That way, others may come and go as their time allows. 8 December 12, 2021 O Sacrament most Holy, O Sacrament Divine, All praise and all thanksgiving, Be every moment Thine. He said to them in reply, Whoever has two cloaks should share with the person who has none. And whoever has food should do likewise. Even tax collectors came to be baptized and they said to him, Teacher, what should we do?
10 He answered them, Stop collecting more than what is prescribed. In today s Gospel, John the Baptist preaches repentance and a baptism of conversion to prepare the way for the Messiah. John addresses the crowds to practice charity. He then addresses tax collectors to tax justly, aiming for better morals. Lastly, he tells the soldiers not to abuse their power and position but act with justice. John wants to cleanse and transform society through ceremonial baptism and moral order as he prepares human hearts for the coming Messiah. This is part of the prophetic genius of John. Society can only be truly transformed when human lives are changed. On Tuesday, December 14th, Mr. John Halligan will be at St. Agnes, once again, to speak to the students in grades 6-8th grade. His one-hour presentation has a long-standing reputation for changing and saving young lives while effectively addressing bullying and suicide prevention.
