2 The flagship publication of Directorate of Economics & Statistics , namely Agricultural Statistics at a Glance is one of the most reliable sources of information to gauge the performance of agriculture and allied sector in India. This publication provides the exhaustive and updated database on various facets of Indian agriculture, including crop production and productivity across States, growth and investment in agriculture, cost of production, minimum support prices, terms of trade, land-use Statistics , Agricultural inputs, rainfall, etc.

3 It gives me immense pleasure to see that the Directorate of Economics & Statistics has continuously endeavored to increase the relevance of this publication by adding information on emerging areas of concern and relevance for the agriculture sector. This issue of the publication has been enriched with the results of latest Agriculture Census 2015-16 (Phase-I), Back Series data of National Accounts Statistics with Base Year 2011-12, and updated information on major recent initiatives by the Government, viz., coverage under Soil Health Card, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Micro Irrigation, Cold Chain infrastructure, etc.
