2 Significant changes have been made Equipment Manufacturers to simplify the use of the STANDARD thereby making system design and compliance Equipment Suppliers & Installers easier to achieve and verify. AS better defines the roles and Design Consultants responsibilities of the system designer, installer and commissioning agent making performance and compliance validation easier. Regulators Local Council Representatives Product compliance and system performance are very real issues today. The new STANDARD places a greater focus on not only ensuring individual system components Fire Technicians are certified to the relevant product STANDARD , but also the compatibility of these Fire Services Personnel components as part of system design. system End Users A further significant change to the STANDARD has been the inclusion of initiation and control of smoke control systems.

3 These have been taken from AS and AS and introduced within this revision to remove potential conflicts and improve compliance. There are many key elements of the system design that have been modernized and this SEMINAR will address each of these, providing a background as to why the change has been made and what the likely impact of the change will be going forward. AS was first referenced in the 2016 edition of the Building Code of Australia which came into effect on 1st May 2016.
