4 NQA-1 provides requirements and guidelines for the establishment and execution of quality assurance programs during siting, design, construction, operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities. This Standard reflects industry experience and current understanding of the quality assurance requirements necessary to achieve safe, reliable, and efficient utilization of nuclear energy, and management and processing of radioactive materials. The Standard focuses on the achievement of results, emphasizes the role of the individual and line management in the achievement of quality, and fosters the applica-tion of these requirements in a manner consistent with the relative importance of the item or activity. Below are the key changes to the 2015 edition: Revisions to NQA-1 Foreword; New Introduction; Revised Part I, II, III, IV Introductions; New and re-vised definitions. NQA-1-2008, Non-Mandatory Appendix 3A-1, Guidance on Design Control, has not been updated to current industry Standards and practices.

5 Audit frequency criteria for internal and external audits Resolves terminology differences between Requirement 2, Requirement 18, and Appendix 18A-1 Guidance position in the standard describing an acceptable approach to classifying and handling audit issues. Clarifies use of thermal buffers as applies only to Method 2 of obtaining tensile test specimens. Added Section 705 (Determining Authenticity) to Part III that includes guidance on precautions to as-sure products are authentic and reduce the risk of introducing counterfeit or fraudulent items. Revision to Part I to address the requirements for Lead Auditor qualification expiration and records. Side by side comparison of NQA-1 with ANSI/ANS -1995 Consolidated and reconciled software-related requirements - inclusion in relevant sections Clarification to indicate when other methods are used to determine the significance of audit issues Graphical tools or flowcharts to aid in the understanding of Software aspects of the Standard
