Attention Home Inspector Applicants

1 Attention home Inspector Applicants Pursuant to a statutory change and effective August 3, 2018, the Arizona Board of Technical Registration will no longer accept the fingerprint cards that had been required for certification as a home Inspector . The Board will now require home Inspector Applicants to submit clearance cards issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety. The former fingerprint cards will not be accepted after August 2, 2018. All home Inspector applications must be submitted with a copy of the front and back of the DPS clearance card attached beginning on August 3, 2018.

2 Applicants will not be accepted without the clearance card documentation. home Inspector Applicants can begin submitting clearance card applications to DPS beginning on August 2, 2018. New home Inspector application forms will be posted on the Board s website. Any old forms that are received by the Board will be returned to the applicant. The Board will post instructions regarding the criminal background check process on its website by August 1, 2018.

4 Please review the BTR Rules and Statutes on the website carefully. They establish the requirements for certification, define limits of practice and rules of professional conduct, and explain Board procedures. It is very important that you become thoroughly familiar with the Statutes and Rules and Standards of Professional Practice. A violation of any of the provisions of the law or rules may be cause for disciplinary action against a registrant. Complete each section of the application packet, following the instructions on each form.

The AZBTR does not accept electronic signatures. Applications with electronic signatureswill be returned for resubmission. 6 A copy of your completion results from the National home Inspector completion of the exam must occur within two years of application submission inaccordance with R4-30-247(1); Proof of completion of an approved training program showing a minimum of 84 hours oftraining in accordance with R4-30-247(5). (Training programs must be offered at facilitieslicensed by their home state post-secondary licensing authority or having an accreditationrecognized by the United States Department of Education or by the Distance EducationTraining Council (DETC)); Log of 30 parallel inspections; An original home inspection report of one of the parallel inspections listed on the logrequired in (d) that you have prepared that meet the standards set forth in R4- 30-301(1); Arizona Statement of Citizenship form.

List the page numbers from your inspection report in thecorresponding section of their counterparts on the supplement. 8 If you have been charged or convicted of acriminal offense, you must have the police record and court order sent to the AZBTR directly by the court of the Board receives a properly completed application, an application number will be assigned and a file established. No refunds will be made. It is your responsibility to ensure that your application is correct and complete. An application is not considered "complete" until all verifying data is received. It may take 2-6 months to process your application depending on the applicant s qualifications and timely submission of required documents.

9 An application is not considered administratively complete until all of the verifying documentation has been received. Upon receipt by the Board of the required documentation, your application will be evaluated. You will receive a notice from the Board via regular and/or electronic mail when your application is received. If you do not receive a confirmation within two weeks, you are welcome to contact your Licensing Specialist by email.
