5 It s usually the health department or vital records office. We recommend getting more than one certified copy. Second Step Once you ve received your certified copies of your long form Birth Certificate , visit your local County Clerks office and have them certify your copies. They will attach a county certification Certificate to your Birth Certificate and certification from the vital records or health department . Third Step If your not able to visit your State s County Clerk office, Send your documents to get certified on the State level in a Express Mail envelope, making sure you send a stamped self addressed Express Mail envelope with your documents, so they won t tri-fold your documents and return them in a First Class envelope.

6 Final Step Send your documents to the department of State to get Authenticated you will need to pick a non-Hague country (Google non - Hague countries for a list, pick anyone of them) If you don t pick a non -Hague country you will receive an Apostille as opposed to an Authentication from the department of State. In a nutshell Authenticated documents carry more weight and acceptance world wide as opposed to an Apostilled document.
