These units can also be usedasbottom loading or priming points on capsAvery-Hardoll connectors and ADAPTORS should befitted with sealing caps to prevent the ingress of dirtand water.

2 The sealing caps are provided with a dual`O' ring spring-loaded seal, together with threeequally disposed roller assemblies to facilitatelocking and unlocking the bayonet TO OVERWING ADAPTORSTo facilitate overwing fuelling, a lightweight adaptor can be fitted with a handle assembly; this combinationis offered as an underwing to overwing adaptor. In use, the thread on the lightweight adaptor is screwedinto a flexible hose terminating in a trigger nozzle; the unit is then coupled to the fuelling bowser's gaugeTASS5050 - Available for checking bayonet lug wear on AIRCRAFT unit blanking capBayonet fitting cap with `O' ring unit dust capThese caps are manufactured from synthetic rubberand are available as an external push-on bayonetfitting cap with `O' ring seal fitting for the COUPLINGSI ntroductionThe complete coupling consists of two units; the` AIRCRAFT unit' which is permanently mounted on theaircraft and the `hose unit' which is attached to thereplenishing trolley hose.

3 The couplings, usedmainly for water/methanol connections, meet theconditions of high speed turn around of civil andmilitary AIRCRAFT . They comply with the Ministry ofDefence and the CAA design and unit (tank unit) the unit body is a light alloycasting having an integrally cast valve guide. A self-sealing, spring loaded poppet valve isretained within the body by the bayonet flange andthe valve guide. The valve has an `O' ring seal fittedin a groove in its seating face, thereby ensuring apositive unitThe unit consists of a sleeve housing a cam andvalve assembly and fitted with a swivel hoseconnector. Two diametrically opposed helical slotsare formed in the cam which carries a three lugbayonet coupling. The helical slots locate twobushed rollers carried on a spindle which passesthrough the stem of the valve and transmits theaction that extends and retracts the valve to theopen and closed positions.

4 Between the valveseating and the recess in the cam is a wave springwhich holds the seating against the mating face ofthe AIRCRAFT unit, when connection has been hose connector swivels on the cam on non-corrodible ball bearings.
