Kaechele Motors, Inc. 25203 State St. Elberta, AL 251-986-5219 Remember to support The Prince of Peace Cemetery Contact Jim Horak for information Dear Parish Family, Since October is Respect Life month I want to share with you some thoughts on why we are pro-life.

4 The Church has been pro-life from the very beginning. One of the oldest documents of the Church s teaching, the Didache, The Teaching of the Twelve A postles, which was written toward the end of the first century specifically mentions abortion and infanticide as being serious violations of the moral law. We know that the Church has continuously defended the sanctity of human life, and I would like to offer three reasons why the Church supports the dignity of every human life. In Genesis 1:27 we read: Then God said: Let us make human beings in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the tame animals, all the wild animals, and all the creatures that crawl on the earth.

5 God created mankind in His image; in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them. Unlike all other creatures on the earth human beings have been created in the image and likeness of God. And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father s only Son, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14) We are pro-life because God became man in the Incarnation of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. God became one of us, grew for nine months in the womb of the Blessed Mother, was born, was raised by Mary and Joseph, became a man and began his public ministry. We read in Hebrews 4:15: For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has similarly been tested in every way, yet without sin.

6 Finally, we are pro-life because Jesus Christ sacrificed His life willingly on the Cross to save us from sin and death. This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own. I have power to lay it down, and power to take it up again. (John 10-17-18) God has created us in His own image, He became one of us and died and rose from the dead so that we might have eternal life. We are pro-life because God Himself is pro-life.
